About True North Beyond The Veil

True North Beyond The Veil explores Canada’s paranormal mysteries, historic mysteries and unexplained experiences through research, investigation, and an open but critical mind.

Our Mission

True North Beyond The Veil exists to explore Canada’s paranormal history, unexplained experiences, and enduring mysteries with curiosity, respect, and a commitment to separating evidence from assumption.

Our Approach

We begin by looking for the ordinary explanation first. We examine the history, the environment, the available evidence, and the circumstances surrounding each claim before considering whether something unexplained may remain.

Rule out the normal first. Then consider the paranormal.

About Joe Cairney

Joe Cairney is the host and investigator behind True North Beyond The Veil and the founder and Case Manager of Wellington County Paranormal Investigators. With nearly five decades of interest, research, and experience in the paranormal, Joe approaches each story with curiosity, respect, and a healthy degree of scepticism.

Although he believes that paranormal phenomena deserve serious investigation, he does not assume that every unusual sound, image, or experience has a paranormal explanation. The goal is always to examine the evidence, consider ordinary causes first, and allow the facts to guide the conclusion.

What We Investigate

True North Beyond The Veil examines paranormal claims and unexplained stories from across Canada, combining historical research, firsthand accounts, field investigation, and a critical examination of the available evidence.

Historic Hauntings

Locations with documented history, reported activity, and stories that have endured through generations.

Reported Encounters

Firsthand accounts of apparitions, unexplained sounds, unusual sensations, and other experiences reported by witnesses.

Folklore & Local Legends

Stories rooted in community memory, local tradition, and long-standing claims that may blur the line between history and legend.

Unexplained Locations

Places associated with recurring claims or unusual activity that warrant a closer look at the history, environment, and evidence.

How We Investigate

Every case begins with research and context. From there, we examine the location, the claims, and the available evidence before reaching a conclusion based on what the investigation actually supports.

1. Research

We begin with the history, the location, the people involved, and the claims themselves to understand the context before drawing any conclusions.

2. Investigate

Where appropriate, we examine the location, document conditions, record observations, and look for ordinary explanations that may account for the reported activity.

3. Assess

We compare the claims with the evidence gathered and reach a conclusion based on what the investigation actually supports—not what we expected to find.

One story. One investigation. One encounter at a time.
